Data Architect
Location: Issaquah, WA (3 days hybrid onsite required)
The Data Architect is responsible for defining enterprise data standards and designing the flow of data across internal systems and external ecosystems, including customers, partners, and distribution channels. This role works closely with enterprise architecture, delivery teams, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with long-term organizational strategy.
The Data Architect maintains an end-to-end vision of the data landscape, translating logical designs into scalable physical implementations while ensuring data integrity, governance, and performance optimization. This individual will lead the development and ongoing maturity of curated data assets, data pipelines, data quality practices, and enterprise data governance standards.
This position requires a strong technical leader who is passionate about coaching teams and leveraging data to solve complex business challenges while developing a globally scalable data architecture.
Responsibilities:
• Drive conceptual and logical data architecture strategy in partnership with Enterprise Architecture teams.
• Define and implement data migration strategies, including validation, cleansing, and data mapping.
• Translate business requirements into scalable long-term data architecture solutions.
• Partner with feature delivery and platform engineering teams to translate logical designs into physical data models and implementations.
• Build, optimize, and maintain curated logical data models supporting enterprise analytics and operational systems.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Data Platform teams to optimize performance across data models and pipelines.
• Define data integration, storage, replication, and transformation protocols aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
• Establish data quality rules and validation processes to monitor critical business metrics and KPIs.
• Develop deep knowledge of cross-system data flows and maintain an enterprise-wide perspective of the data ecosystem.
• Maintain detailed technical documentation including data flow diagrams, source-to-target mappings, and architectural artifacts.
Required Qualifications:
• Experience implementing packaged or custom ERP or MRP solutions within the retail industry, with a focus on data architecture and migration.
• 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data architectures supporting complex datasets.
• Experience using data modeling tools (Erwin strongly preferred).
• Experience architecting and delivering data engineering or data integration pipelines.
• Strong experience designing performance-optimized data models.
• Advanced SQL proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Retail industry experience.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience using Git for source control and collaborative development workflows.
• Architectural-level experience supporting information privacy, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace applications including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
